MOHN

MOHN (Mission for Our Homeless Neighbors)
Outreach Ministry

Our Mission for Our Homeless Neighbors (MOHN) reaches out to homeless people in Shibuya and Yoyogi Park as a typical hands-on ministry of our own, following Jesus’ teaching, “Feed the hungry and clothe the naked. What you do to the least of My family members, you are doing it to Me,” in a straightforward manner. Church members and friends prepare and deliver food to them, we host a monthly Fellowship Supper at the church for 300 or more homeless guests , we collect and distribute warm clothing each year as winter sets in, and we welcome them to a breakfast of traditional New Year foods at the church on January 1.

Volunteers are always needed to help with preparing onigiri (rice balls) and other food and to deliver the food to our homeless neighbors, to prepare and serve our Fellowship Suppers and our New Year breakfast, and to donate, sort and distribute warm clothing in November.

ANNUAL CLOTHES DRIVE

We Feed Our Neighbors as Act of Thanks-Giving.
Why Not Clothe Them in the Spirit of Stewardship?

Beneficiaries:     The homeless neighbors (by receiving) and ourselves (by giving what others are in need of).
When and How:  Bring clothes to the TUC Lobby in boxes or bags during designated week in November (Sun-Fri)
What to Give:      Clean warm clothes for wearing outside. See the following. Please give only the items on
the list, and not what you do not need. Alternatively, donation in multiples of Yen 1,000 for purchase of
underwear is appreciated. Place your gift in the pew envelope and mark it “Clothes Drive”, or drop your
donation so marked in the wooden Dedication Box on the cupboard just inside the glass doors.
What Else:           You can donate your time for (1) Sorting clothes in the Church Lobby at 10:00 a.m. during that week,
and especially on Friday afternoon; and (2) be willing to help in Distribution at TUC between 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.,                                       Saturday.
