Do it all for the glory of God

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Cor. 10:31

We’ve come to that time of year when we like to focus on the idea of Stewardship - the responsibility that we all have in using and growing the gifts that God has entrusted us with. Of course, Stewardship is not limited to just one season but is relevant all year round. Equally, Stewardship is not just something we do at church on Sundays, but something we do with the whole of our lives. That’s why this year, we’ve chosen a theme, inspired by the verse above, that will encourage us all to think about Stewardship in a bigger, more holistic way.

Whether you’re eating an onigiri in the park or having a coffee in Starbucks, do it for the glory of God.

Whether you’re making an excel spreadsheet or looking after a little one, do it for the glory of God.

Whether you’re having fun with friends or caring for a sick relative, do it for the glory of God.

Whether you’re working, playing, resting, cooking, exercising, shopping, thinking - anything! - do it for the glory of God.

Do it all - yes, ALL - for the glory of God!

With this attitude, dedicating our daily lives to God, we can ensure that our actions are always in line with God’s holy purposes. This is Christianity in practice.

We invite you to prayerfully consider this theme over the next few weeks, and talk with God about how you can see Him as the center of everything you do.

As we explore how to “Do it all for the glory of God”, here are a few highlights you can look forward to:

  • Moments for Ministry when members share their own stories

  • Online Seminars on the theme of Christian financial stewardship

  • Rally Day, an online scavenger hunt to discover opportunities for serving at TUC

  • Dedication Sunday, the day when we formally pledge our time, talent and treasure for the coming year

Please look out for further updates in the services and in these Letters to the Congregation.

Let’s pray:

Dear Lord,

Whatever we do is part of your plan.

If we see it like that, even the simplest action becomes so much more meaningful.

Help us to dedicate everything to you, putting you at the center of our lives, always thankful for the many gifts you have given to us.

Open my heart during this season to hear your Word about the practice of Stewardship, and help us to grow as a community of faith together.

Amen
