Who we are
A giving community
Generosity is woven into the fabric of Tokyo Union Church, from mission work to supporting one another in daily life. When you join us, you'll find a congregation that gives joyfully—not out of obligation, but out of genuine love for God and neighbor.
A safe place for families
Families of all shapes and sizes find a home at TUC, where children grow in faith alongside parents from all over the world. Whether you're raising young kids or navigating the teenage years, you'll discover a supportive community that walks with you through every season.
A historical legacy
For over 150 years, Tokyo Union Church has stood as a beacon of faith in the heart of this great city. Our legacy isn't just about the past—it's about continuing to serve Tokyo with the same spirit of openness and joy that has defined us for generations.
Our Four Pillars
-

Grounded in Christ
If you want to know where we get our strength, our inspiration, our guidance, and our spiritual life, then look to Jesus Christ. In everything we do, we are Grounded in Christ. Of course we are, we’re a church! This is something that will remain the same through any transition.
-

Open to All
One thing that makes TUC different is how we're really open to all people: all nationalities, all backgrounds, all types of Christians. There are actually over 40 nationalities in the congregation. That diversity is really at the heart of who we are and how we worship, a constant in our identity.
-

Active in Joyful Service
Tokyo Union Church is full of activity, all the time, and not just on Sundays. Yet the emphasis is on serving not just out of a sense of duty or sacrifice, but with Joy. After all, serving is one way how we show our love as Christians. As we grow and perhaps become even busier, we want to grow equally in Joy.
-

Integrated in Community
One of the unusual things about this church is where we are: right in the center of this great metropolis. We're integrated in the community and making more of a difference to Omotesando and Tokyo through our presence here is another area of focus and growth.
